Hello! This is my first post to this forum, and I'm completely new to Jaguars in general, so go easy on me. During my last trip to the local junkyard, I came across what I believe to be a MK1. The yard has it mistakenly labled as another make.
The engine, transmission and the rest of the drivetrain is in tact -- engine turns without any bad noises, etc. My question is: are these parts worth saving? And would they be worth anything? If I pulled them and could find a home for them, I wouldn't be so much interested in making money as keeping the parts from being destroyed.
This particular yard has a high turn over rate, so I'd expect this car to be in the jaws of the crusher by the end of the month. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Haha. "Odd Duck" is probably the most polite term anyone's ever used for the Spits. I know I'm guilty of throwing around a lot less flattering terminology.
I'll head over to Jaglovers and do as you suggested. Who knows, even if no one needs the engine, it may just follow me home anyway. I'm not sure what I'd do with it, but it's not like Jaguar's turning out 3.4's anymore.
Maybe if I'm brave enough, I'll build the world's first Jaguar-powered Spitfire.

Zach good man--I have a friend with a 1970 Spit which is an odd duck as you know---Seems a shame that it gets scrapped---why not post this on Jaglovers in the saloon area--give them the contact info and make sure they know you are not selling it --just a rescue mission! Hope you do. And welcome to the JCNA forum--the editor of the Jaguar Journal (MIke Cook) is also the editor of your Triumph mag. He currently has no Jaguar but does have a Spitfire---Now that I think of it I think we should bring him up on some sort of trumphed up charge for that offense!!!!

Hey guys -- I'm Zach Bowman, and I'm not a business. Just someone with a soft-spot for old metal.
I'm not a member of the SMJC either, though I pinged Peter Davis to see if he knew of anyone in the area who would need the pieces. I actually own a Spitfire MK 3 (no Jaguars, unfortunately), and just happened to come across this old MK I.

LeftofLucky--what is your name and are you a member of the SMJC? If you are call your club members and make an outing of stripping the car--there are valuable parts there but there must be a need! There is a free classifieds section here and unless you are a business there should be no problems! Good luck.
