Dear Jag enthusiasts:

Can anyone tell me if after market, NArdi wooden steerings wheels are considered non-original and account for deductions when showing a car at concourse?

My almost finished 150 came with both the original steering wheel and a Nardi period wheel, which is beautiful - Ferrari like - and in a smaller diameter, it is a preferred size.

Im wondering if I should leave in on the car, or replace it with the original, which is in perfect show condition.
Your points of view would be much appreciated! thank you

Kind regards

Hi George!
Thank you for your reply.

Per your suggestion in my last posting about tool rolls and numbers plate, I referenced the rule book, which is not a quick read nor terribly easy to navigate. I could not find the answer.

Perhaps once again I can ask for all benefit here - at concours Judging, do judges prefer the pristine newly stamped VIN plate, or the original, faded VIN plate? (my car came with both - one obviously not mounted to the car)
Likewise - pristine new tool roll from Bassetts, or original flaking tool roll original to the car? (Assuming all the correct tools are present in the roll)

thank you!

Greg:

For the data plate, refer to Chapter V, section F-7 , pg. V-16, "Judges should not assess condition deductions for original data plates provided they retain their original shape and all of the stamped numbers are legible."

This was put in place to encourage owners to keep the original plate in place, rather than replace them with (possibly incorrect) shiny new ones.

As for the tool roll, if the materials are the same, and the roll has the same shape, and pocket configuration, along with the correct buckle, then you would most likely be further ahead with the new tool roll, so long as you are entered in Championship Class. If you are in Driven, or Preservation, then either don't show it, or use the original.

Cheers, Mark Roberts

Greg if you are entering the Champion class it is aftermarket and as such non -origional. It would be deducted. If you enter special class it could count toward the required deductions. The rule book is in the concours section and is very clear about deductions for all classes.
