Just trying to confirm matching numbers on my E-type...got them all except the body number. My books say it should appear on the forward face of the firewall, right side. Can't find a bloody thing there. Anybody have any help? This is on my very original '68 OTS, Series 1 1/2...regular Series 1 body with Series 2 interior and engine compartment. Many thanks, Eric.

Outstanding Robert! Thank you for the detailed information and photo. I don't know why any of this wasn't covered in the two restoration books I've been using. I'll be home in 3 days and I'll check my Jag's numbers then. Hopefully the OTS body numbers are located the same as the FHC's.

This picture is of the body tag on a 68 FHC. The body number tag is usually in this location or the the left wheel arch, inside the car, near the gas tank filler pipe.

I'm sorry Robert, that answer's a bit too cryptic for me. Do you mean that the body # appears under the rear license plate mounting point? Thanks for helping me out.
