OK you fellow Jaguar owners here is one for you.all.
Here is my engineering curosity what does a typical XKE gets for MPG.
Recently I took at trip from Hartford, CT to Lime Rock Race Park covered 127 miles and used 7 gallons of high test,18.1 MPG. for my 1964. This ride was 70% highway and 30% stop and go.
The engine has never been rebuilt, is this a fair value or is it running rich.

Thank you for response.

Edward, Mine is a 3.8 FHC, and the average highway mileage is 20.5. I have measured this over a number of 1000 mile road trips so it's not a one-tank number. That's about what a well-tuned 3.8 should get. City, I get more like 16 MPG (US).
