New to the forum, so i don't know whether qulaifies for a general or model specific placement. Here goes.

Just bought a 1996 XJS. When detailing, I nopticed quiter a bit of water in the passenger side floorboard. I am guessing that the AC drain is the culprit, but wondered if there was an easy fix and a good way to dry out the thick padding that cannot -- easily -- be removed. Also want to prevent mold.

Thanks.

I had the same trouble with my Xj40 of the same year. The problem was under the hood.
At the bottom of the windshield, were the wiper arms mount, water enters the slats. That is then supposed to funnel down onto the road. But at the bottom of this funnel there is a rubber trap, designed to let water out and not in, but this has the trouble of blocking with leaves and things and this coerces a build up of water and when this reaches the air intake for the cabin and it overflows.
Just tap of the clip holding the rubber thing on and if this is the problem twenty gallons of dirty old rainwater will hit the ground.

This is a common flat with the Xj40, IÔÇÖm not sure about the XJS but itÔÇÖs worth checking.
