I have a 1997 xj6 with 40k on it and there seems to be a slight vibration in the steering wheel between 20 to 50 mph. I have rotated and balanced all tires no improvement. Again the vibration is only in the steering wheel. Any ideas.

could be a number of things (mechanical) in the front end, but if you balanced the tires recently, it was probably the balance job. I had to balance my fronts twice because I was getting vibrations at 52 mph. After balancing the vibration happens at 60 mph!! Took it back and they finally got it right. Also, there is a new type of balancing called "progressive balancing" (or something like that) which you might ask about. Designed for problem wheels which refuse to get a balance.
