My engine is in original configuration with all PC equipment fitted, air pump and all plumbing. I am interrested in cleaning-up the engine room.

Welsh carries replacement air cleaners for the Strombergs which I like.
Fitting these units will result in the disconnection of certain bits such as the hose running from L/H air cleaner to the gulp valve no doubt rendering said valve inop. If gulp valve is out of use what other bits should or could be removed. What effect on engine ops may result?

It seems this would result in a major chenge in set-up to other systems/components. There is a vacuum pipe that would have no where to go.

Has anyone done this?
How much of the PC junk could be eliminated? Air pump perhaps?
What the heck is gulp valve for anyway?
