Hello,
As mentioned in a prior post I just became the proud owner of a 1989 XJ-S.

Not sure what can be done about these two issues but the trip computer just flashes a bunch of zeroes and will occasionaly give a reading of some kind if you press one opf the buttons only to go back to flashing zeroes. Is there a reset one can perform on this or is the whole thing "toast"? I imagine it would not be cost effective to repair and if someone were giving away a functional unit for free I suppose only then would it be worth it to replace. Someone guide me or correct me if I am wrong.

In a similar vein the original Jaguar radio will power up and ask for the code, when the code is entered it accept it but will still not work. Is there a reset for the radio too? The guy I got the car from said the prior owner had a casette tape stuck in it and he was able to get the tape out but now thie unit seems to have freaked out.

Again, I guess I am leaning towards an aftermaket unit as a cost effective solution unless there is some simple trick to get this thing kick started.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Craig

Okay I found some instructions elsewhere on the forums about re-setting the radio. It is re-set but still doesn't work. It is as if it is trying to play a casette but there is no casette in there and I cannot get it out of that mode.

I guess it is toast.
