On my 74 S3 the transmission is leaking oil. It leaks only at the beginning of a drive. When the car sits in the garage its not leaking. After a long drive when the engine and transmission is hot its also not leaking. When I drive it for 5 minutes and then stop I have about 10 drops of red transmission oil on the ground.
I had it in the shop and they said that the torque converter or the front seal of the transmission is leaking. To fix it, they need to pull the transmission out which is a big job.
Do other possibilities exist to fix this ? Should I try a additive to the transmission oil to see if it stops the leak ?
