Buying new tires. Don't need high performance "Z" rated tires. I'm just a weekend cruiser. Just need a good set of all-season radials. Vehicle never sees inclement weather. Have you guys seen a specific tire that looks and rides good for an XJS? What do you all like? Opinions please. Thanks, Rick.

Stay away from Yokahoma DB's. I bought those because i heard Pirelli's flattend on cars stored over a winter for example and it took a long time for the tires to return to round. All will flatten I've heard. So I bought the Yokahoma's since they had the same speed rating and they are noisy as all get out. The funny thing is that car, before it had to be retired due to a pin stripe rule, must have been in 15 to 20 shows and not once was the speed rating checked.

If it is just for road and go try some B.F. Goodrich radial TA's. They are not proper for show but they are good for the road. I have a set on my 1987 Hess & Eisenhardt and I cannot complain. If I were to be at the point where I would be entering the Hess in a show, then I would get rid of the TA's. In the mean time they work.

Steven: Thanks for your reply. I'll check those tires out. I'll also have to check to see if the tires make a difference for the Driven Class? I entered mine one time only and came in first. Tires were Michelins. Again, thanks for the heads-up. Rick.

If you are not concerned with being correct for show, my vote would be for an S or T rated Bridgestone Turansa. I used them on my '93 XJ6, which I no longer have, they are the winter tires for my '95 XJR and they are on my Volvo XC70 Cross-Country wagon. They have proven to be very nice riding, long wearing and quiet tires. And never has one worn unevenly.
