Has anyone come up with a better(?) way of connecting the two Stromberg Carbs? I have a '68 E. The connecting clip (spring thingy) does not seem to hold as well as I would like it to hold and scars the shaft. Before I replace, I would like to entertain some different ideas.

They have been working for over 50 years. Sounds like you have a sticking secondary throttle in your front carb or elsewhere in the linkage.
