Storing the E-Type for 4 to 5 months in the winter

IMHO, YES, If you have the 10% gas as we do locally, we have done tests and the gas will turn to sugar water in 30 days or so.....From Model A to Aston Vanquish, I put it in all....
It is eating up the old fuel systems alive. Unless you run the car/ burn the fuel, add the additive it works.
