'69 E-Type: Tried starting about a month ago. Turned over but would not start. Thought maybe carb float valves. Today, will not turn over. Clicks repeatedly. Dead battery?? Using my jumper do I connect red cable to red cable or opposite because of positive ground. Have done this before but spacing out on the issue today,

Thanks for any suggestions.

Jack, first off how old is the battery. If over 4 years old, don't bother jumping , the plates are collapsed. Second , once you replace the battery clean all the terminals. You have a shed down relay in a series 2 and need all the juice you can get.
Good luck, get the biggest cold cranking battery you can find..
IMHO, Do not get a gel battery/optima, overall , they stink, you must have them fully charged all the time and they tend to crap out if not used regularly. IMHO......JAGS/ASTON/ROLLS/FERRARI and many many more, no gel battery......
Good luck

Always attached the + terminal to the positive terminal and negative to negative no matter what either car ground configuration is. The positive terminal is the larger terminal on the battery. If you are jumping from another car do NOT let the two cars touch one another. Do NOT trust the color of the battery cable!!! Someone could have swapped the colors so always confirm with the terminal size or the label on the battery by the terminal.
