I own a 1961 Jaguar Mark II 3.8 automatic. I just replaced the speedometer cable -- old one was cracked and leaking -- with a replacement from XKs. Although this seamed to solve the leaking problem, I beleive the new cable end extends too far into the transmission housing and the driven nylon gear bound up. As a result several of the teeth were damaged.

Two questions:
1. Does anyone know where one could get a replacement driven gear -- the transmission is a dg 250.

2. Are there any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening again with the new gear?
