I just bought a replacement speedo for my series 2 OTS. I wanted to transfer the mileage on my old one to the new one. Is there any way to reset the mileage without damaging anything?
My car travelled an unverified 23 K miles or so while the new/old one has 65 K miles on it.
It would be really great if I could just transfer the current miles to the new speedo.
thanks for any advice.

speedo reset
It's a pretty easy thing to do. But it does require disassembling the speedometer. Anyway, here's a guide to speedometer internals:

speedo reset
You should just have the 23K one restored. With that few miles what is wrong with the 23K one. You can reset the miles on the unit but a specialist would be your best bet.
I should add that the speedometer, odometer and trip odometer are really three different instruments that happen to be housed in the same case. If your original odometer was ok, you should be able to install it in the new unit as an assembly. This is much easier than changing the reading.
