My speedo is very accurate and works fine up to 80 mph. After that, the needle drops to zero and stays there until speed is back below 80, at which time it works fine again. Any ideas?? Thanks.

Early '88 model year XJSs used a transmission mounted speedometer transducer.

Later ones used a differential mounted speed sensor which sent a signal to a solid state module mounted in the boot (left side)which, in turn, operated the speedometer.

Hi Bill- thanks for the quick response! I only drive over 80 on the Dyno!! Anyway, the car is a 1988 XJS, 5.3 H.E. cabriolet with 47,000 on the clock. Which "module" are you referring to?

don't drive over 80! Seriously, what model is it? usually the transducer causes problems but this sounds more like a module fault. Jaguar affectionado and etc.
