My speedo drive broke inside the cable so I can only pull out one end.
It appears almost impossible for me to get my big hand into the area to unscrew the cable from the right angle drive above the gearbox when lying under the car. Is it possible to remove the cable by putting the car on a lift to get a better angle and someone with smaller hands? Or does the interior have to come out to unscrew that end of the cable?

The console inside the car comes out pretty easy at least on my 68. Pull the radio console portion with the 4 bolts and the 2 seat belt bolts at the rear is all that holds it in if I remember right. Once you get the console out there should be an access plate to the top of the transmission. The angle drive was broken on my car several years ago and this is how I got at it to unhook from the cable instead of from under the car.
