I have a member in our club who is looking for a Series 3 convertible with manual shift. He asked me about those huge rubber bumpers on the Series 3. What year(s) were they NOT installed on the Series 3? I am aware that these were part of the 5mph bumper test imposed by the US, and, I know they were not put on the last 100 Series 3 cars. But if someone were to purchase an S3, can those rubber bumpers be removed and retrofitted with the "nicer" looking bumpers?

Thanks!

71 / 72 have the small bumpers... my 72 now has a 74 bonnet (accident) it only took filling up the holes used to link the bumper to the frame to fit 72 bumpers.

It is relatively easy to convert the 73 overriders to the 71,72 type. The 74 is much more difficult. I ordered a set to convert a car that I had on E bay, but the "buyer" was a prankster and never bought the car so I still have them, let me know if you would like them Jaguar affectionado and etc.
