Which model? There have been incorrect length cables around for some years for 2+2 I believe.

The design requires careful but not difficult set-up and if given that it works fine. The auto-adjusters do fail after years when the grease hardens and of course access isn't brilliant, but if everything is in good shape it works OK. I've been up and down the test hills at MIRA where they tested it, and my cars hold fine on my Kwik Lift slope which is about 1 in 10.

The thing to remember is it is a 'pinch' design, not just a cable pull design. therefore the cable outer plays a vital part and should not be fixed tight to the tunnel near the back. The angles of the compensator arms should be around 90 degrees or less when the mechanism is in operation and the pads should release to be only a few thou clear of the disc. As Gerge said, it's in the book. Don't settle for anything less.

Ed the system works well when properly set up with spec. parts. The issue is these cars have been driven with the HB on--that destroys them. Just repair your HB to the factory manual and it will hold well. One of my cars is a 420'G' with the same system --it holds on a hill (and weighs an additional 1500 lbs.

FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS MY HANDBRAKE HAS NOT WORKED , I THINK ITS A MARGINAL DESIGN. THIS IS CRITICAL BECAUSE I HAVE A HILL IN FRONT OF THE GARAGE.I USE A HEAVY ANGLE IRON TO BLOCK THE WHEELS.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS TO CORRECT OR RECONFIGURE THIS SETUP.
THANKING YOU ALL IN ADVANCE
