In searching the E-Type forum, it doesnÔÇÖt appear that upgrading the rear engine oil seal has been discussed. Therefore, I would like to ask the members for their thoughts regarding this issue. Based on your experiences what is the best way to stem the oil flow problem? Which modern rear oil seal kit is most effective and who supplies it?

I have never had a problem with the original seals, but having the sizing tool is a must. Ironically, I recently did a 120 engine and decided to use the updated seal as opposed to keeping the Archimedes arrangement, to my horrer it leaks!

Jay,
Actually to properly fit the rope seal, which like George says does work, the crank must be out of the engine which means that the engine must be out of the car.

Miklos here it is plane and simple--the original Jaguar rear seal is very good but it me sized with the Jaguar sizing tool. All of the "aftermarket" fixes are just snake oil!
