I've been restoring a 1967 2+2 with automatic transmission and no kickdown linkage assembly. Hadn't run for 17 years. I was concerned about driving the car to winter storage without the linkage. However, while tuning the carbs, the torque converter seal blew. I'd like opinions as to the advisability of trying to fix the BW model 8 and getting the kickdown linkage assembly or putting in a 5 speed. I have the manual pedal box assembly. Thanks.

If the only issue with the BW is the kickdown linkage, I'd start calling the usual dealers to try to nail one. In the very worst case, it should be possible to cobble one up from scratch. The five speed conversion is expensive to begin with, and while you already have the pedal box, you will need the clutch hydraulics, bellhousing, flywheel, clutch, center console, shift boot and trim, and radio console to complete the conversion. If your engine isn't out of the car, you will also need to add an engine pull to the cost.

I have one source in my notes who might have rebuild parts for the BW8, if that helps:
