My 1963 XKE steering wheel is original, but splitting and needs help. Can anyone recommend someone who can refurbish it? I have seen a "wood kit" on Ebay, are these available in the market place? As I would actually like to refinish it myself. Appreciate the help.

Super glue is the easiest way to mend splits. If you can, clamp the split closed before putting on a few drops. Usually the thinnest glue is the best. It will draw itself down into the crack. Wider cracks need thicker glue or both glues used serially. Hobby stores will give you the best choices on super glue. Extra time epoxy is best for large splinters that you have to clamp and dont go together well. Good luck. 1967 E-type S1 FHC

I refinished the wheel on my 68 several years ago. I removed it and sanded it with fine sand paper and put polyurethane on it. I did not have any splitting, though. You may be able to use carpenter's glue and clamp the portion where it is split. So much depends on how far along the damage is, how badly the wood is dried out, etc.

I have not heard of a "wood kit". You can get replacements through XKS Unlimited and Terry's Jaguar parts, I believe.
