I have a question regarding the stamped steel "shield" attached to the rear hub on all 6 cylinder E-Types. One has come loose on my 66 coupe and I'm trying to find out how these are attached before I start tearing things apart. It makes quite the annoying metal rattle when loose. It seems that there is a small ridge that the shield needs to be popped over to hold it in place. This shield is included with the splined hub when purchased as a replacement part.

Joe not all 6 cyl E-Types. The early cars did not have a "water thrower" but your car did. It is an interference fit and pressed on. If it is loose you may need to either remove it or break out the JB Weld and cross your fingers. It could perhaps be pinned but if it has been loose that is doubtful.
