Today I took the E to Moroso, a road course in West Palm Beach... interesting track.... 2 long straights with slight kink on the front and a wicked chicane in the middle of the back straight... a tight complex at the far end. with little or no (mostly off camber) runoffs, concrete walls, tire walls. A little intimidating at first.... especailly at the end of the front straight.... 3rd gear long 180 with 50' or less to the tire wall... not much when approaching at 120...

Covered 250 miles ... about 3 hours or so... flat out for the most part although shifting well below red line around 45/4700... Mostly troublefree... except for the front pads which are down to the metal... and front left wheel bearing which started begging for mercy halfway thru.... no play just noise so I kept going... I ran sessions of up to 45 minutes with no braking issues, the CJ Willwoods, cross drilled and vented rotors and Motul 600 really solved the brake problem.

The group I joined keeps the track green nearly all day long, except for a 30 minute lunch break and 2 15 minutes parade laps behind pace car sessions. so you get more track time that you or your car can handle... yet there are little traffic problem as all 60 participants never hit the track at the same time...

The E attracted a lot of attention there... among NSX, Porches, Corvettes, BMWs,etc... Handled beautifully, a bit loose in the rear but oversteer is so easy to control. One of the turn, a long double apex 180 had some pronouced curbing on the exit and it came in handy a few times to control the slide :-)

Final glitch on the way home was the belt tensioner (custom job since the alternator was replaced and moved) bearing blew or something ...it's 20 deg off squeaking nastily... almost at the end so I made it... I have a spare but didn't feel like pulling over to change it, the belts and all...kept a good eye on the water temp... :-)

The more I do this, the more I realize there is nothing like driving an E-type the way it's supposed to .... Fast and hard... There are a number of people interested and working on ways to make it easier for Jaguar owners to play at the track next year... stay tuned !

Outstanding, Pascal!! Hopefully, you got some pictures(?). I think that more and more JCNA member are becoming interested in HPD events, and your reports on how well your wonderful Ser. III has been doing on the track in inspire others to do it as well.

I'm glad JCNA is moving forward with Gary Hagopian's initiative to establish Regional HPDE coordinators to make as many events as possible available to our members by working with other clubs who run them. An important step in the right direction!

I just sent my E-type off to the shop for deer-injury repairs. I'm looking forward to running it at Lime Rock Park next spring, and hopefully doing some other racing with it next year as well. While I'm not going to do all the mods you've done to yours, hopefully my stock car will hold up well, on the track and off.

Look forward to hearing about more of your exploits over the winter.

Best regards,

Steve Weinstein, JTC-NJ
