As the current Chairperson for the JCNA Rule Book Review Committee, I would like to make a formal request for qualified people to take on the task of authoring JCNA Judging Guides for specific model Jaguars.

I am speaking of a document or booklet that could be used by a concours judge while in the judging process. NOT a "restoration guide". Restoration guides often include instructions on how to do certain things. A Judging Guide would restrict itself to concisely detailing what things originally looked like and/or what they should be or should look like when they're restored. Once published, the guides (while always subject to correction) would become the JCNA authenticity standard for the subject models.

The guides should be in a given format in order to promote standardization and consistency of detail. They should basically compliment the JCNA scoring and component judging process, addressing the component areas as though the reader were a judge walking around the exterior; looking in the interior; examining the engine; etc. Pictures would be a bonus; however, they would definitely increase the size and cost of the document and, to be of true value, the detail required might be beyond what even a dedicated amateur photographer could achieve.

Each Judging Guide entry would possibly include (asterisked entries mandatory):

*a. Item

*b. Description of the authentic configuration

*c. Acceptable variations if any

d. As appropriate, applicability by Chassis #, Engine #, or VIN

e. Common non-authentic variations

f. Picture?

*g. References

The inventory of items within each component area, especially the engine compartment, could and likely should be very extensive.

The worldwide access to Jaguar expertise provided by the JCNA website and the Jaguar Lovers lists presents an incredible opportunity to at least make the effort and screen the results. Without such Judging Guides, JCNA judging and scoring of authenticity will continue to be non-standard and vary unacceptably.

Your constructive comment and suggestions would be appreciated.
