Patrick McLoad, Daniel Thompson, and Gary Hagopian advocate a technical forum on the JCNA website. Tom Kopke covered some of the issues, but I think he spoke somewhat more gently than was warranted.
9 clubs took the initiative to form a joint forum and it has worked to help attract members to those clubs. There have been about 2100 messages posted to the technical joint forum. This was done well before any of the current JCNA forums were even a glimmer in the JCNACC's eye. Those forums are not perfect by any means, but I can't see ANY reason why JCNA should undercut club efforts in a "me too" technical forum.
ON THE OTHER HAND, while Tom Kopke might take exception, JCNA sponsorship of added clubs to the forums that already exist would expand the usefulness of the forum to ALL that participate. I would certainly be willing to take on much of this task in order to avoid adding to Tom's workload. There are a lot of issues to work out - like providing the extra server space needed. There's also the task of making it a truly worldwide Jaguar Club forum. While there's one Canadian and one Australian club in the joint forum, there's no reason that a good number of the 51 clubs OUTSIDE of North America should not benefit, giving us ALL a richer experience.
I believe THAT was the vision when we started down that path and it is achievable. It is FAR beyond what a simple "me too" JCNA tech forum could accomplish and would benefit Jaguar clubs around the world...
