I support Steve's comments about creating a competitive spirit in the process of electing your Regional Directors. We need to introduce fresh concepts and new energies into membership representation on the JCNA Board as well as strong, forward thinking management of the various JCNA initiatives. Regional Directors should be elected from a clearly articulated platform that satisfies our membership that they are getting specific value for the JCNA portion paid as part of their annual dues.

Since I will be standing down as NW Regional Director at the end of this term, I am particularly eager to see the emergence of a successor who will provide that kind of dedication to the job and I commit to working with that individual to that end during the transition period. Please take the time to make similar decisions and choices in your Region so we can throw off this erroneous belief that individual club members are totally indifferent to the Regional Director election procedure or the consequences of non participation in the voting process.
