Forgot to mention: I had the rad out of the car on its side in order to make the solder joint in the flat or horizontal position. You might do it in the vertical , but the two surfaces would have to be touching or almost touching so the melted solder stays in place by capillary action . The easiest way to a good joint would be to do it in the horizontal as I did. AND, of course, there can be no fluid in the rad.
