I think I'm a victim of the old "it must be true if it's on the internet".
This YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oifC7fbQfY seems to state that steel to brass will work fine and specifically with a propane torch and silver solder SSF-6..
I guess I need to go back to ground zero?????
