I have a lovely MKIX with original radio installed
including an underside dash hand cranked antenna.
It is a simple mechanism but it appears the beaded nylon
cord that attaches to the pulley to raise and lower the
antenna has stretched. This means it is no longer able to
grab the pulley well enough to raise the antenna. :-(
It's such a fun little gadget. I would love to find an NOS
unit or even a replacement cable and fix my current unit.
The cable does appear proprietary - but perhaps there is a source for replacement beaded cable somewhere? Google is no help!
does anyone have any
experience? Leads? Even an old unit for sale?
Thnx for any help!
Kind regards
Greg Arnold NYC

Do you have the HMV radio with the push buttons? I have the same but my antenna is fitted to the chassis so needs no winder mechanism, -i'm assuming your antenna is on the wing-. I need one of the push buttons for mine and so I am linking on to your thread to save opening another as both threads would attract the same people. Regards.

Greg,
If you find a source, put me down for one.

I have one on a 66 3.8S (RHD) it is clarly original but has the same problem as Greg and the rest of us. I suppose there are just too few of them to make replacements.
