Art, Things may have changed over the years, but I found it to take a long time to get an Alpine radio repaired. As I remember it took months. FWIW, I recently put a brand new Alpine in my XJ6, it fit in real smootly. The new radio looks great and even comes with a wireless remote. It is a fun radio to use, it includes a DSP that allows you to set time delays for each of the 4 speakers; several different EQs; and (one of my favorites) the ablitlty to change the dispay to any of about 500 different colors (red through violet). Now on the negative side it took me about 2 weeks to lock in on all the options, how to change them, how to store them, but it is a breeze now.
Good Luck.
