This is a very geeky little detail, but I was interested to find that the PRNDL id plate from a '68 2+2 (on the right in the photo) is painted differently to that from a '69 2+2 (on the left). (As you can see, the plate from my '69 was bust, and I got a replacement from a jag-lovers lister who converted his '68 to manual.)

PRNDL shifter ID plates
Julian that was due to complaints from owners that the lighting for the earlier version was insufficient.
That's interesting, George. I haven't compared the light transmission of both side by side, but will do so.
The moulding is very fragile, no wonder it broke so easily.
