I have recently picked up a 3.4 Mark 1 and everything seems to be fine. It has even compression about 150 per cylinder and the engine was rebuilt about 3000 miles ago (have all the receipts)and I had a good conversation with the rebuilder. However, I have one nagging problem and that is that it loses power when going up steep inclines. Starts easily and runs great on the freeway and around town but steep hills it bogs down. I have checked timing, made sure gas flow is good -- could this be float level? electrical? Any ideas are welcomed

My mechanic found that my throttle linkage ('56 2.4L) was adjusted such that it only opened about 2/3 of fully-opened. It's easy to miss if, like I, you are not very heavy-footed and don't otherwise often encounter the need for the horses, like when going uphill.
