The Volvo 240 series upgrade appears to be extremely popular.

The first thing I expected to find was increased piston area for more stopping per pedal effort.

But the dual 1.5" pistons have the same area as the 2.125 - in fact, the Series II caliper has a 2.125 opposite a pair of 1.5's.

So is the upgrade simply a cost savings? or is it the increased pad area?

One other observation I think I have gotten right: Both the solid and vented calipers have the same 3" mounting centers like the Series 1 Dunlops.

I've spent many hours so far trying to get a "pitch" for the Volvo upgrade, but haven't found one peep - just about everyone says "there are many reasons for the upgrade" but no one mentions them!

I'm inclined to stay OE for originality.

Thanks in advance.
