Good day.

It's an XJ6 (xj40) '94. I cranked the key and no juice. In the past when the batt has been run down, the car will atleast have a little juice so that I can open the trunk with the center console button then charge the battery. But I cannot do that now because there is absolutely no power. (Using the key and latch on the trunk does not open the trunk, only pressing the console button.) Any help on figuring out how to get into the trunk would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Good morning from the West Coast, of Canada that is. If you have no power for the trunk but the doors are open , you can get a plug in type deal that goes into the cigarette lighter and use that to power up the battery, no need to get tangled up in the starter motor wiring.Possibly you may need to get a new battery, the ones that hold up best for me have been the RV type , Art

You'll have to use a hole saw and drill a hole in the trunk lid in back of the license plate. 1" dia will do. Once you do that, you'll see the linkage to open the trunk. Push up on it and the trunk will open.

Why doesn't your key work in your trunk lid? If it's like mine was, your lock cylinder is jammed and there are no locksmiths that can fix it, correct? I solved this problem by buying a used trunk latch. Unfortunately, this meant I had TWO keys for the car but it was the only solution.
