Well, fortunately on several fronts, I did not complete the purchase of this vehicle. Most importantly, I had my wife along when we went to see the car, and she helped me to see what I was seeing. There were just too many "issues" going on.
So, back to square one. That is, I am back to looking for a '69-'70 year xke.
My "list:"
Price, $30-40K.
Condition, good. Not concours, but it has to be in good driving condition, no major repair needs. The interior needs to be nice, not worn out. No rust.
Air conditioning, yes. We plan to do a lot of traveling in this car during summer months, so air conditioning is a necessity.
I can do a lot of the mechanical work myself, so I plan to do little "upgrades" one at a time over the coming years.
Thanks again for your advice.
