I recently bought a '95 XJS with 46,000 miles on it. It has had all
service from a Jaguar dealer including the 40K service. What are
some things that I should be on the look out for or should replace
soon? As is now, everything works and seems to have been kept in
great condition. Also does anyone know of a good place to take one
of these in Atlanta, GA?

Thanks,
John Paul Rowan

John Paul,

I recently acquired a '95 with very low miles (14K) myself.
As I have done in past used-car purchases, I replaced ALL coolant and lubricants. This will give you a base line for the future. At you mileage level, do change the fuel and air filters as well. It is worth the cost.

Enjoy your kitten,

Mike

Sounds like you've got a good one! If it were mine, I'd first verify when the coolant was last changed. The V12 is sensitive to overheating & keeping the cooling system in good shape is a must. That means not only keeping the coolant fresh (changed every 2 years), but also the radiator clean from accumulated debris which might inhibit proper functioning. New thermostats would be cheap insurance - I use Jaguar OEM themostats, given all the poor quality replacement parts out there. Of course, you want your electric cooling fan(s) in good order, too.

At your mileage, I would change the spark plugs (regardless of Jaguar's extended service recommendations), as well as air & fuel filters. Also, lubing the chassis at the numerous grease points is an often overlooked service item.

Lastly, I would give Covenant West a call for a service reference in the Atlanta area. I'm not sure if they service Jags, but they can certainly recommend someone in the area who does. Also, you might go to the local JCNA chapter website & e-mail some of the officers for a service reference.

Enjoy your new ride!
