Greetings saloon owners!
The MKIX has gasket attached to the rear bumper that follows the edge of the bumper between it and the body. I imagine other model jags have the same type gasket. My original gasket has deteriorated after 52 years. Since the car was purchased new by my dad I know it is original. A replacement from SNG is robust, and identical in profile to this gasket.
There are two angled areas of the bumper edge that follow the contour of the body and require some finessing of the rubber to get it to follow this edge. The original gasket fits snugly against these angled bits - (and was not placed in sections around these corners) - however the new gasket is new, thick and straight and does not want to cooperate!
Is there a technique to getting these rubber bits more pliable, so they will follow the shape of the bumper? Heat? Hot water? Any ideas?

hi Steve yes i do have all the tools - as Well as all the docs, import shipping sheets which are neat, and all the usual manuals, tags, etc - my dad was thorough in keeping those things -

Since your dad was the original owner, any chance of it still having the original tools in the tool kits?

Greg, can you post pictures of the tool kits. Need to know the names on the four different spanners.
