I would like to know if anyone has a 'current day reference' for a replacement fuel line, running from the fuel pump, in the boot, to the fuel filter for the Mk2 ('63 3.8). I think that Goodyear would offer a suitable replacement fuel line as I used many sizes of their fuel hoses in my fuel injected Series II XJ12, but would prefer someone's personal experience.

Thanks,
Charles Brennan

Charles again you can purchase that line all day long at any good parts store. There were in fact two unions in the line. Some cars (correction to my own post) used a one part nylon line (like the E-Type) from the pump to the filter ie; 152646 to 163789/ 176170 to 179362 200001 to 202048 and 210001 to 214536. So it is possible (depending on your vin) that your car had Nylon. That might explain why it was replaced--but not with rubber! I will end by saying the final version Jaguar settled on was steel.

Thanks George. I wish it had the steel line when, in fact, it has a continuous, non-metallic, line from the pump directly to the filter, which I took to be part # C16356. I guess I best start calling around the scrap yards.

Charles that line is steel and very available. Due to the fact it crosses over the exhaust system I would not use rubber. In fact I would not use rubber under the car at all. Your car should have a short Nylon hose from the tank pickup to the pump and then another short Nylon hose from the pump to the steel line to the filter bowl (all in the fuel pump area. The line is steel to the filter bowl and then a short nylon line from the fuel bowl to the steel carb feed 'T'. The bends of the line are gradual and very easy to copy. Good luck.
