I think in days gone by, my experience was with "early" units, that had the retainer of the pison seal (not dust boot) retained with screws.
My factory manual only discusses "early" caliper pistons.

The ones in my 64 are staked, six places, if I recall, and no way to get them apart easily.
I was able to peel the old seal out (fairly easy), think I can roll the new one in, but is there some trick my manual isn't telling me on getting the retainer off?
No problem pressing the piston out of the backing plate for the dust boot, but this part is odd.

Retractors seem to be working just fine.

I can take pictures if it would help.
Gonna be a couple of days until kits get here.

Thanks.

So, um......when did Jaguar use 1-9/16" calipers on a MK2?
I called Apple, they tell me the first thousand MK2's or so had them, the rest 1-1/2" pistons.

My 64 has all 4 rears at 1-9/16", Apple has enough 1-9/16" kits to do 8 caliper sets.
I give up.

I just ordered out 4) 1.5" halves.

Okay, that is what I thought.......stoooopid manual (Jaguar, MK2, official and all that rot) ONLY talks about "early" pistons.
Remove screws, remove plate, swap seals, install plate and screws, re-stake screws.
That's why I've learned to ask questions!

BTW, figured I'd swap pads out......one of my suppliers is out......so I tried NAPA (have had a business account for decades).

You canot FIND them by looking up "Jaguar", but the on-line (current) catalog lists Altrom (ATM) D52DP.....yet the local company-owned store claims they are "obsolete".

HATE it when they list something that isn't even in the system any longer!

Thanks, George!

Dave no trick --warm the seals up if cold--apply plenty of rubber grease and slip them on the very clean pistons you have prepared! Good Luck guy!
