Can anyone tell me where I can purchase a new element for my MK IX fuel filter? The car has the original glass jar type filter, I just need the replacement element that goes inside the jar.

Chuck one more issue--your MK IX has two filters in the tanks. The pick-up (part of the drain bung) should have a fine mesh screen that will only allow non-dangerous size parts/dirt through. You also have a filter (or should) at the inlet of each carb. fuel bowl.

Chuck your car did not come with a filter element in the bowl--just a screen. If you have an element make sure you remove the screen. You can get a new element at any good parts store as they are an AC fliter and fit lots of things--mostly tractors! Do not purchase the element with a spring on the bottom--they are designed for a later application and the fuel flow is incorrect.
