I'm having a problem with clearance on my main bearings for my '68 E-Type 4.2. The crank was ground 0.010 under both main & rod. It seemed a bit stiff going together so I plastic gauged it.The bearings are both stamped 0.010. I'm getting a reading of 0.0015 on the mains & 0.001 on the rods. The manual calls for 0.0025-0.0042. The machine shop checked the crank at 2.740 & rods at 2.0762.The machinist says the bearings are too thick. The parts guy says he's sold lots of these bearings with no complaints.Any words of wisdom?
The bearings are Glyco.

Phil, I found out from a Jag engine builder that 0.0015 to 0.0020 is fine on the mains. I guess it will be okay. Thanks for your suggestions
Paul.

Assemble all 7 main bearings and caps , torque to spec., without the crank in. You can then measure the inside diameter and compare that to the re-ground main journals. I've not used Glyco bearings, but have had trouble with Glacier in the past.
