2 weeks ago, Bought the above from a Jag dealer with 23K mi for $31.5. I was unaware, until I cleaned the driver's door jam and found a sticker stating the car was "reacquired" from Jag. At first, the salesman claimed to not know what that meant, then I did a title search and found out the car was labled a lemon from california where it was first purchased. (I live in S Florida.) The car looks and drives 100% and appears unmolested.

The dealer is offering to give me my money on any other car on the lot. Currently the best is an XK8, 97 with 19K miles for $41.5, with all service done and 2 yr warranty.

What do you think? Thanks for your advice.

Unless the engine is shot keep it. But change the car's polarity to negative ground [something you will have to do to use a GM engine and its ignition, etc.] so you can install an electronic ignition and solid state sound system.

What you really want to do is install a GM TH700 R4 Hydramatic tranny to to replace the Borg Warner slushbox. Better acceleration, smoother shifts, precise downshifts and it is a 4 speed - automatic overdrive that gives you an engine speed at 80 MPH of 3150 rpm instead of 4000. Easy motoring. This applies to 60 mph, 70 mph 50 mph etc - the ratio is .79:1 in auto overdrive. John's in Dallas can supply the conversion kit and the transmission can be got used or rebuilt anywhere.
