Cleaned the throttle body on my 98 XJ8,with tooth brush and cleaner. Car now wants to stay at the speed I have it, throttle will not back off normally when you release gas. Nothing wrong with cable part, seems like electronic or vacuum. If you put in neutral, say at 45mph the tack will go down and when its back in gear the speed will increase. Any ideas?

'98-'99 XJ-8's had throttle body problems where they stalled at highway speeds and sometimes at idle. They have a re-call to replace this, but it seems that not everyone is aware of this. It is also advised that at every 10,000 miles, you clean your part load breather. Doing the above two, you should not have any throttle problems, unless your problem is more complex.
