I recently purchased a 96 XJS six cyclinder and made the mistake of taking it a mechanic who said he could fix a fast idle problem. He not only didn't fix the problem he managed to slam the bonnet and jam the latches. I have found another mechanic who has tried to open the bonnet through the release cable hole in the fire wall without success. Before he drills holes in the bonnet to release it, I am trying to locate someone in the central PA area with a 96 that would be willing to bring their car to his shop so he can look at the latches to know exactly where to drill and how to release the latches. I will, of course, compensate for travel costs. Thanks for any help and hope this isn't to long a post.
