Hi Tommy
Great to see the E type is so popular out there still.
It makes sense to have the power unit in when doing any suspension work.
You need to remember the suspension is set up at the factory by a jig.
what you need to know is the OD of your torsion bars and then relate the size of the bars to the settings. Out there we had to raise the suspension to conform to your height laws which made the car drive like a reliant robin.
What I suggest is set the suspension up using the required settings and when the car is complete with all its loads re-measure the ride height. and if necessary reset the torsion bars.
This job is not difficult and all you need is a ramp and a lifting beam a tape measure and about 4 hours of time. We never used to use the special tool as we found it to clumbsy
The imprtamt thing is to remember to slacken the bottom wishbone mountings
