A wise decision Gordon. What part of the east coast are you located? We are in Florida and have been restoring Jaguars for 36 years. You will want to ship your car to the shop doing the work. They should inspect the fuel system, clutch, drive shaft U-joints, cooling system all at the same time. If the block need s bored, It will have to come out of the car. That is the time to boil the block, replace freeze plugs, clean oil gallerys...etc. You don't want the rebuilt engine over heating from a bad cooling system. Clutch can only be replaced with engine out. Same with u-joints. Won't be inexpensive but the E-types are going up in value. And it will add to the value when or if, you decide to sell. Have pictures taken to document what is done.
Cheers Tom
