According to the Jaguar Heritage, my 1952 XK120 is listed as standard rather then a special equipment model. The engine is clearly stamped with an "S" suffix and the car has all of the SE equipment. I'm trying to solve this mystery and was wondering if any other XK owners have experienced similar issues.

Robert,
Service Bulletin # 109 dated September 1952 "SPECIAL EQUIPMENT MODEL XK120 MODELS" states in its introduction:

"As will be known to some Distributors and Dealers "Special Equipment" XK120 models are now being produced. These models are identified by the letter "S" as a prefix to the chassis number and the letter "S" as a suffix to the engine number."

Does your car show the specified letter "S" on the chassis number, the cylinder head and block engine numbers and on the data plate as well?

If the letter "S" properly appears in all of those locations, the JDHT records may be suspect.
If not, your car may have undergone some post-production modifications.

Good luck,
Dick
