See if there is play in the water pump shaft. If the bearings are old the shaft will go front and back, antifreeze will push past the bearings and seals. Also check that you didn't over fill the radiator and its just backing up when hot. Expansion plays a big roll in these cars, double tighten everything as well. IMHO I suspect number 1.
