When trying to close the hood (bonnet) of my 2001 XK8 convertible, I drop it from the center and it invariably remains disengaged on the passenger side. I have to open it up and drop it down again at which point it usually connects. Should I gently lower the hood and then push on the corners to engage the latches? In any event, can anyone advise me what is the proper way to close the hood (bonnet) on this vehicle?

I have the same problem with our '00 and decided that rather than dropping the hood, lowering it gently then pushing down on the corners to latch them is best.
In my opinion, that is the proper way to close the hood.
